Potential Use of Water Treatment Sludge as Partial Replacement for Clay in Eco-Friendly Fired Clay Bricks

چکیده
The traditional production process of clay bricks involves the extraction significant amounts raw materials and consumes considerable energy, leading to anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions environmental degradation. Using environmentally friendly in construction industry has become an attractive alternative for mitigating sustainability issues. One such is incorporating waste materials, as water treatment sludge (WTS), into brick production. This research aims assess viability using WTS a replacement conventional fired production, thereby pollution. Five distinct mixtures were created, with replacing at 0, 20, 40, 60, 80% ratios. mechanical properties durability produced analyzed through various tests, Atterberg limits, optimum content, unconfined compression, apparent porosity, compressive strength, flexural density, absorption, efflorescence. results demonstrated that content increased, limits porosity increased. bulk bending capacity specimens found decrease ratio Additionally, moderate efflorescence was observed samples higher

Possible Utilization of Cigarette Butts in Light- Weight Fired Clay Bricks
Over a million tonnes of cigarette butts (CBs) are produced worldwide annually. These CBs accumulate in the environment due to the poor biodegradability of the cellulose acetate filters and pose a serious environmental risk. This paper presents some of the results from a continuing study on recycling CBs into fired clay bricks. Properties including compressive strength, flexural strength, densi...

Use of sewage sludge from wastewater treatment plants as a raw material for making clay bricks has been analyzed to be an option to dumping sludges into landfills. This alternative has been shown feasible and interesting due to the high rate of use of ceramic materials in the building sector. However, it meets with some environmental issues and some prejudices on the part of users. This work sh...
